2025 Summer Retreat Social Day (Saturday)

Following our days of Service and Spirituality, we will have worked quite hard physically, mentally, and spiritually. This will be just in time for us to take a load off and head across Lake Erie to Kelley’s Island! Additionally, we will to get to know each other fairly well, and this is a great time to hang out and just enjoy each other’s company.

Situated directly across the lake from Marblehead, the Kelley’s Island ferry is a quick 30 minute ride across the water to a hidden gem in Ohio. Kelley’s Island is a small island, neighbored by the more touristy Put-in-Bay, with a much slower pace and family oriented environment that is perfect for our retreatants. There are numerous things to do on the island including mini golf, plenty of great restaurants and wineries, hiking, swimming at the beach, and even seeing glacial grooves left behind by the great glacier that melted into the Great Lakes many years ago.

We want to give everyone a chance to, as Father Tom would say, “life out.” God gave us creation to live in, to enjoy, and to share with one another. Our time on the island will give us the opportunity to do just that. We will have an entire day to just live in the goodness of each other’s company and reflect on what we have learned and done in the past few days.

We would like to share a common meal at some point either on the island or once we return, we will coordinate this during the retreat based on everyone’s preferences and what works best with our time constraints. Once we return from the island, we will begin preparation for Divine Liturgy the next morning. Depending on availability of clergy, we hope to have confessions available at this time, though you may feel free to ask a priest at any point during the retreat to receive the Sacrament at a time that works best for you. We will pray compline to finish the night as we will for each night of the retreat.
